this brief, 11 hour gig as a professional bit player was quite illuminating. apparently if you have a speaking role you get free food and drink! and get to sit around with people far more slightly famouser than yourself. i taught them the tiny bit of hungarian i knew and told them which of the touristy things are worth doing.

i worked with this guy http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1015511/ named finlay and i got to annoy him both in character and out.

i also got to work with this man http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0916073/ who almost survived alien 3! wow! he was really cool and told me i was a natural and should look into auditioning in LA. niiiice!

and http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0090196/ this lovely man is a big tv actor in the uk. he was a sweetie too. and oh so funny!

i really loved all the makeup and hair people who fussed over me and chuckled at my mangling of their language. so sweet.

here is 'The Story of ____ ' imdb entry. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1137482/
if it ever comes out go see me get fired in it! and someone who knows how to ought to add me on the cast list.

what fun what fun! szia at the wrap party fellers!

fuck writing papers

I guess im feeling a bit homesick today. here are some good songs for that sentiment. not exactly conducive to writing good papers about ethnic conflicts.

below the songs are some photos from my poland trip

Kings of convenience-Homesick http://www.sendspace.com/file/cz8uz5
Ryan Adams-When will you come back home?http://www.sendspace.com/file/07a56t
Neil Diamond-I am I said http://www.sendspace.com/file/xmnmav
Bob Dylan-Boots of Spanish Leather http://www.sendspace.com/file/wvr7dv

I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair by Pablo Neruda

DON'T GO FAR OFF, NOT EVEN FOR A DAY

Don't go far off, not even for a day, because--
Because-- I don't know how to say it - a day is long
And I will be waiting for you, as in
An empty station when the trains are
Parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Don't leave me, even for an hour, because then
The little drops of anguish will all run together,
The smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
Into me, choking my lost heart.
Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve
On the beach, may your eyelids never flutter

Into the empty distance. Don't LEAVE me for
A second, my dearest, because in that moment you'll
Have gone so far I'll wander mazily
Over all the earth, asking, will you
Come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

I must confess i am pretty ambivalent about this whole 'travel' thing. It can be fun and enriching and all that jazz. But it often reminds me of all the people that are not with me. or all the people i will never see again. how many times have i wondered that these past few months? i guess its worth it for the memories and whatnot. thats where happiness is right?

for those currently in crisis

existential, middle aged, 20 something-crisis. i have some happy things to distract you from your self questioning. this track is called "i just want to have fun" by of montreal. http://www.sendspace.com/file/iiyce3 don't reject the revelation.... this song pretty much sums me up. well, maybe if it was called i just want to go home... maybe i should have uploaded "sloop john b" instead...
moving on, here is a super cute cover of "harvest moon" by of montreal. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ibvfo7 don't knock it till youve tried it!

summer is over, which is unfortunate, but also the new year is speeding at us faster and faster, right? and i plan on claiming 2008 for ME! yay! this track is the zombies with "this will be our year". http://www.sendspace.com/file/2qqumv Listen to it because its about us and our year which is going to be AWESOME. not to get all new agey (read: becky stark) on yall, but feel filled with love cuz i love you! paige=jesus. get it? just kidding, i aint kanye...

quick life update: i am fine. lifes a-ok. fell of train as you already know if ya read this. im stricken with the urge to withdraw to the country more and more often...if only forests and lakes had wi-fi. sometimes i like to think about the vastness of nature or the universe...it makes me feel skinny-er.

today i fell off a train (songs about trains)

dont worry. i am unhurt!

we were traveling to lake balaton and the train started moving before i could exit! so i got nervous and skipped the last step and hit the ground but if felt like the ground was moving so i just fell over and rolled away from the train. the gravel softened my fall. it was quite graceful really.

arcade fires magnetic fields cover of "born on a train"

magnetic fields "fear of trains" (very appropriate)

riot grrrrrl, or maybe not

so i am getting eaten alive by mosquitos this week. just throwing that out there.
today we went to a contemporary art exhibit by Katarzyna Kozyra called "In art dreams come true". it was interesting to say the least. video art with lots of strange castration imagery and the phrase "gender issues" was used a lot.
so i thought id post a few riot grrl songs arbitrarily.

heres some wanda jackson. shes pretty punk rock. i mean lemmy from motorhead likes her. "i gotta know" http://www.sendspace.com/file/2ugmjv

and "big iron skillet" (is this a reference to that marty robbins song 'big iron'? a feminization of a western motif substituting a kitchen item for a gun? hmmm. thought provoking. http://www.sendspace.com/file/6s267m

and now for my other favorite (post)riot gal band sleater-kinney! heres some of my faves, well actually i dont have much on my compy since after the accident... still dont resist the revelation, kids. "be yr mama"http://www.sendspace.com/file/gadnj1

"combat rock" live

"modern girl"

woooh, im so riot grrrrl! can anyone send me some heavenly mp3s?

artsy smartsy

i have a few favorite visual artists. i thought i'd share one with the anonymous blogosphere.

at the top of my list is polish avante garde writer, painter, drugger, and all around fun guy Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz. or witkacy as i like to call him. he is a real cool guy. he was a futurists and catastrophist and when world war two broke out (commies and nazis once again partitioning pooor poland) he thought his visions were coming true so he made a suicide pact with his girlfriend. however he just gave her sleeping pills so she just woke up and found him all dead and bloody. some people live their art, eh?

he also would do portraits for money, charging more as the portaits got more abstract. he would do all sorts of drugs while working to make sure his stuff was really trippy and expensive.

wiki him sometime.

this reminds me of a song.

'she did a lot of acid' by neutral milk hotel, technically just jeff mangum actually. i uploaded it at sendspace. itll be good for seven days so get it while its hot! http://www.sendspace.com/file/z4ddbm

and how about another acid song. here is jenny lewis and the watson twins singing 'acid tongue' live at the 930 club in washington dc. also via sendspace. http://www.sendspace.com/file/zayjd2

if anyone has a better way of doing this whole mp3 uploading lemme know. i aint too profesh.

trash day

found some new digs when everyone put out the junk they had accumulated over the last year for pick up. it was like my birthday a week early! found a nice dress, a fur hat, a pink sweater with the names of composers on it. dont worry i washed it all. but im just reporting that im doing what i do best while overseas...scavenging.

back from the weekend

well, we went to pecs (with a short stop at lake balaton) for the weekend. that was quite lovely. im sad though because i dont think ill be going to transylvania due to lack of funds. i just pulled out 700 bucks for rent and i've officially only a grand to live off plus i have to bring a bunch of that back to westwood to pay my rent when im back at godawful ucla. by godawful i just mean expensive. as enriching as that school is i am still not rich and therefore very limited in what i can do and such.

but anyways pecs, pronounced paych, kinda like my name really, was great.

in other news please listen to this song we are the egrets by the great band lizard music. love em! they are a hidden gem for sure. so twee before twee. pretwee! oh man...
